My Vision for River Oaks

I’m running for Mayor because I believe River Oaks has an incredible foundation and an exciting opportunity to build for the future. I want to bring a fresh perspective to City Hall while honoring the things that already make our community special. Most importantly, I want to create more opportunities for residents to be informed, involved, and heard in the decisions that shape our city.

Good government starts with communication and transparency. I believe residents should have easy access to information about what is happening in their city and meaningful opportunities to participate in the process. I want to explore new and more accessible ways for the city to communicate with residents, meeting people where they are whether that's through social media, email, community meetings, or other tools. I would also like to establish a regular Mayor's Musings update to keep residents informed about what's happening in the city government, upcoming projects and decisions, and the issues facing our community.

I also want to bring more voices to the table. Younger residents and families, longtime residents, business owners, and neighbors who may not have traditionally been involved in local government all have valuable perspectives to offer. I believe our city is stronger when residents are invited to participate and have meaningful opportunities to help shape our future. As mayor, I would work to make civic engagement more accessible and welcoming to everyone.

Our schools are one of our community's greatest assets. Castleberry ISD's continued progress and strong academic performance are something our entire community can be proud of. Having worked as a third-grade teacher in Fort Worth ISD and now working in early childhood education, I understand the challenges facing educators and the importance of giving students and families the support they need to succeed. While the school district has its own elected leadership, I believe the city can be a strong partner, working collaboratively on issues that affect students and families, supporting community initiatives, and helping create an environment where families want to live, work, and stay.

Our parks and public spaces are an important part of what makes River Oaks home. Through my service on the Parks Board and the Parks Foundation, I've seen firsthand the value that safe, well-maintained parks and gathering spaces bring to our community. I want to continue building on that work by listening to residents about how our parks can best serve children, families, seniors, and the entire community, while thoughtfully prioritizing improvements and looking for creative ways to fund and support them.

Finally, I believe River Oaks can pursue thoughtful economic development while preserving the unique character of our community. With a focus on revitalizing River Oaks Boulevard, we can attract new businesses, strengthen our local economy, and broaden our tax base, ultimately easing the financial burden on our citizens. By approaching growth intentionally, listening to residents, and strategically improving our main corridor, we can create a more vibrant town center while protecting the qualities that make River Oaks feel like home.

My vision is simple: a River Oaks where residents are informed, included, and proud of their community; where families have opportunities to thrive; where our parks and public spaces are valued; where our schools have a strong community partner; and where we embrace thoughtful growth while preserving what makes our city special.

I don't have all the answers, and I don't think any mayor should. I believe the best ideas come from listening to the people who call River Oaks home, and I want to make sure those voices have a seat at the table.
